I can confirm that the built in charging pad does not work with the iPhone 12 Pro as well (2022 civic touring + IPhone 12 Pro). Purchased yesterday. My phone with or without the MagSafe case not charge after the first 15-30 seconds on the civic’s built in charging mat. I called the dealership, they were of course unaware of the issue.
My wife and I have the same phone: iPhone 13 pro Max, same cover: Apple Silicone cover (MagSafe). 2021 Model 3: right charging pad works about 50% of times, left pad less than 10%. Both pads work almost flawlessly if I turn the phone upside down. Haven’t tried without a case or with a thinner one (too lazy for the first, too cheap for the

My guess is that the charger will work with less than a 20W brick, but if the phone detects a MagSafe charger that's outputting less than 15W it will disable it from charging the phone. So using a smaller, magnetically aligned coil was a good solution for Apple. In the future, we may see standard Qi charging. MacCheetah3 and jz0309.
I think the only reason a MagSafe compatible case won’t come out for the 11 Pro is due to Apple blocking it as MagSafe is something that should go through the MFi program. That’s not to say that an unofficial one won’t be made, but it may be a while and the charger will still only output 7.5W max
