Though it did happen without mods as well.) In Fo4 I believe the autosaves work in different way somehow, which removed the issues caused by that, but even then Bethesda removed the old system where it cycled through saves. (Which is a bit weird in my opinion). I'm not exactly sure how autosaves work on consoles.
Fallout 4 Only Keeping 3 Saves What I see when I start the game is Exitsave0, 3 saves (last 3) and the save made (by default ?) of when I left the vault in the beginning of the game. I did restart the game about a month ago and deleted all my saved games on both my PC and the ones stored on Steam Cloud. I ended up turning Cloud Save mode off but looking at it now I see that it is enabled. I am
Two-Tu Jan 22, 2017 @ 10:53am. [HELP!] Games crashes when saving : ( (CTD) Hello! My game keeps crashing to desktop when I try to (quick) save or fast travel to another place - every single time. It just happened today out of nowhere, I've never had any problems before. Apart from using the console to spawn items and apply legendary armor
I walked on the explosive trap that in the cave related to the Irvington quest, died and now I cant load either Quick or Auto Saves, only Hard Saves that are way back :-( Looking in the save folder: Hard saves consist of two files .fos and .nvse Quick and Auto saves consist of three files .nvse .bak and .tmp Anything I can do?
Sorry man, I've never had my manual saves not show in the load menu, so I just don't have a ready solution. I figured it out: what I needed to do was open up the saved games folder and delete the ".tmp" ending from the saved file, so that ".ess" is the only ending. When I did that it showed up on the load menu again.
. 1. In anything even remotely based on something Bethesda may or may not have touched at one point never never NEVER rely on quick saves. If you have an amount of saves in the single digits you have too few. Secondly yeah I actually just had this problem literally thirty minutes ago just back out of the load menu and reopen it and you should be
Some things I noticed was that my "saved" files would show up in the saves folder in my Skyrim saves directory but they would not show up in the game. I also saw that all the "saved" files were all marked #183. I tried emptying the save folder and starting a fresh one, but that didn't seem to work.
If Vortex is not finding them there, but you can see them with "Windows Explorer"/"File Explorer", then Vortex is not pointing to the correct location. If you have enabled "Steam Cloud" to automatically sync your files, then you also have the save game files backed up to Steam's Cloud Servers even if they have been deleted from the local disk.
My save files are NOT corrupt. After time of gameplay, the "false save corruption" bug occurs, which makes Skyrim SE believe that all saves are corrupt. If I restart Skyrim, all saves load successfully. I have no CTDs to speak of, and the "false save corruption" bug doesn't occur that often. So I really and rarely have only 1 very minor issue.
Use hard saves as you play through, not quick saves or exit saves. If you don't see enemies or NPC's showing up where they should, exit the game completely (to desktop, not just main menu), and re-load the game. If that doesn't work and you've used quick saves or exit saves to reload the game, start from the most recent hard save.
